CACI International Inc. was presented the Best
Manufacturing Practices (BMP) Award for Excellence at a ceremony on November 8, 2007. The
BMP Award for Excellence honors those organizations that share their best practices with
the BMP Survey Team and are transferable to the U.S. Navy, DoD suppliers, and the U.S.
industrial base. BMP surveys validate and document best practices used in industry,
government, and academia that are available for benchmarking and problem solving.
CACI provides the IT and network solutions needed to prevail in today’s new era of
national security, intelligence, and e-government. The BMP survey focused on the company’s
Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), a methodology used to develop cost-effective
maintenance that preserves the intended functions of equipment and systems. RCM is a
back-to-basics engineering approach to develop or validate preventive maintenance
requirements. Originally conceived by the commercial aviation industry in the mid-1960s,
RCM optimizes reliability and maintainability to enable increased operational availability.
By using well-defined engineering rules, RCM takes the guesswork out of determining
maintenance tasks to ensure the right mix of corrective and preventive maintenance.
Congratulations to CACI International Inc. for winning the BMP Award for
Excellence and for sharing its best practices with the Navy’s Best Manufacturing Practices
Survey Team and the U.S. industrial base!
